I'd like to know what your definition of "reliable evidence" is.

I think if a mother has made a change for her child through diet or hbot or other alternative treatments, that is pretty darned reliable to that family. To decry the viability of those options simply because there is no published double-blind controlled study is to say children who are currently suffering from autism are disposable.

I do not have an child with autism, but I do know this. All the "legitimate" information offered by traditional US medicine is very reliably NOT helping children with autism. It is arrogant beyond belief to tell parents they should not pursue other avenues just because the powers that be don't have answers.

Thank goodness for parents who are pushing the envelope. I truly hope they will be vindicated and those who sit in the ivory towers will come to realize the importance of the children and NOT their prestige.

I saw that KOMU website/blog when it first came out, and had my doubts as to how "good" a result could come from their methodology.

The results, so far, are what could have been predicted when you open up a question for comments from anyone with a keyboard and an internet connection.

Different opinions should not be suppressed. But all opinions should be examined in the light of known, peer reviewed, legitimate research.

That "studies vs. studies" line sounds like a cute way for KOMU's intrepid reporter to *not* say, "I didn't bother to read any of them."
